#WomensMarchFlorida 4.11.17

#womensmarchflorida Daily Action Tuesday 4/11/17 via Florida Immigrant Coalition
We must continue making calls and asking our leaders to stand with our families and communities. For the first time, our state legislature has two (2) Latina women who hold two (2) of the most powerful positions in the Florida Legislature. Senator Anitere Flores and Representative Jeanette Nuñez have been strong champions for immigrants in Florida.
In addition, we are focusing on Senator Rene Garcia, encouraging him to vote NO on SB 786. Senator Garcia is also a champion and a member of the first committee in the Senate.

The next 16 days are key to stopping these bad bills. We have the first 50 days of session to make as much impact as possible. It is important for us to continue thanking them for their leadership and asking that they continue to stand with our communities.

Call Jeanette Nuñez, House Speaker Pro Tempore

Tallahassee: (850) 717-5119

Miami: (305) 227-7630

Suggested message: Hello, my name is _________. I am calling to share my concern of the nine (9) anti-immigrant and anti-refugee bills that have been filed this session. I also want to thank [Representative Nuñez] for her continued leadership on behalf of immigrant communities in Florida. More than ever, we need [Representative Nuñez] to stand with us and fight against bills that will continue to increase fear in our communities and separate families.

Script for Senator Anitere Flores and Senator Rene Garcia, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Call Anitere Flores, Senate President Pro Tempore

Member of Senate Judiciary Committee

Tallahassee: (850) 487-5039

Miami: (305) 270-6550

Call Rene Garcia, Member of Senate Judiciary Committee

Tallahassee: (850) 487-5036

Miami: (305) 364-3100

Suggested message: Hello, my name is _________. I am calling to share my concerns with Senate Bill 786. I also want to thank [Senator Flores or Senator Garcia] for her/his continued leadership on behalf of immigrant communities in Florida. This is a bill that would legalize racial profiling, create more distrust between immigrant communities and law enforcement and make our schools unsafe. More than ever, we need [Senator Flores or Senator Garcia] to stand with us to fight against bills that will continue to increase fear in our communities and separate families.
